The controversies around Sony’s Pehredar Piya Ki don’t seem to be dying. Union minister of information and broadcasting Smriti Irani has taken action against the show after coming across an online petition to ban it, filed on change.org.

The ministry has reportedly asked BCC (Broadcasting Content Complaints Council) to look into the matter on priority basis. However the producers of the show are in no mood to change the plot of it right now. “We have also only heard about this; we have not received anything yet. If we get anything from them we will clear our take with them too since we are confident about our show,” producer Shashi Mittal said, at the press conference held in the city.

She defended the show saying, “We never wanted any sort of controversy. Half of the people who have misjudged our show haven't even seen our show. People who are watching are also messaging me saying the show is so inspiring.”

This whole controversy stirred up after actor Karan Wahi tweeted against the show. But Shashi and her husband Sumeet Mittal feels it was an irresponsible tweet. Shashi says, “I think we are giving him too much of a mileage. He doesn’t deserve this attention. He has become more popular because of tweet than his show.” The producer adds, “It is irresponsible on Karan’s part to react like this without watching the film. But to each his own, he has all the right to give his opinion.”

The team has also made it clear that they are in no mood to change the plot, and neither do they plan to take a leap. Ask Shashi if they show would have been more progressive had they shown the protagonist adopting the nine-year-old, she shoots back, “I don’t think so. I am surprised that such progressive people are talking like this. By making a mother you are killing all her dreams. What will she get being a mother? Is she in a stage to showcase motherhood? Why can’t they be husband and wife?”
