Things aren’t looking up for Sanjay Dutt whose comeback film Bhoomi has tanked at the box office.

Sanjay Dutt has little to celebrate. The reception for his post-incarceration film Bhoomi isn’t what he had hoped for. The film opened to poor reviews and turned out to be a disaster at the box office. Due to the low level of interest in Bhoomi, T- Series, the producers of the film, lost heavily on the project. All this has made Dutt anxious.

“In fact, Simran, that released a week before Bhoomi by T-Series, made more money. People are saying that Kangana Ranaut has a larger fan-following than Dutt,” says a source.

Sanjay Dutt’s team is in panic mode regarding his next career move. For starters, Dutt has opted out of Bhoomi director Omung Kumar’s next, The Good Maharaja.

He has also sent feelers to his favourite director Raj Kumar Hirani regarding a third film in the Munnabhai series. “Everyone in Dutt’s team feels only a Munnabhai film can resurrect his career at this juncture. Dutt has asked Hirani to do another Munnabhai film, and Hirani has assured Dutt he will get down to it right after he finishes the Sanjay Dutt biopic.” This is another thing Dutt is worried about.

“Going by Ranbir Kapoor’s box office records, it would be a miracle if it performs well. Also, the script is being revised and many of the more controversial aspects of Dutt’s life would be toned down or omitted. The audience would see a watered-down version of Dutt’s life,” says a source.
