Who doesn’t want to have a life which is full of happiness and peace? But while most of us are busy dealing with the stresses of relationships, career, property and health, we often feel empty from within. The book The Heartfulness Way: Heart Based Meditations for Spiritual Transformations, by Kamlesh D. Patel and Joshua Pollock.
Talking about the book, Joshua, who is a heartfulness trainer and practitioner from the United States, says, “I did not plan on writing any book my whole life. However, one day in 2015, Kamlesh, who is my spiritual guide, called me up and asked me if I would be interested to write a book about meditation. And from there we embarked on this spiritual journey. There are numerous books in the market about spirituality, yoga and enlightenment. But this book takes the reader through all the various practices in detail, that can make you believe that you can go and achieve all that you can,” shares Joshua.

Ask the author why does the book stress so much on the practices one can follow to attain peace and he quips, “Because until you try, you wouldn’t know. Practise and see what happens for yourself. Anyway, you can’t realise the truth through somebody else. These practices will help you understand who you are.” He adds, “Our bodies grow from that of a kid to an adolescent, and later an adult in a systematic way. So, is the case with meditation. It wouldn’t change your life immediately. However, after a long time you will be able to see and realise the difference within yourself - it’s a beautiful feeling.”
The heartfullness meditation doesn’t just help a person heal spiritually. One can also use it to better their relationship with their loved ones. “Once you are at peace with yourself, you start understanding others better too. So, like I said, over a period of time you will certainly notice how your relationship with your family members and friends has shaped-up beautifully. It’s not like it will make your problems go away. It will just help you with a clear and new perspective. In the Heartfulness approach, we meditate with something called yogic transmission, which attracts our attention in the same way that a beautiful rose would.”
He feels that meditation aligns perfectly with his music. “Meditation helps me with my music. It constantly connects me back to my heart so the flow is more easy,” Joshua concludes.
